11-99 Rescue Cobra Buckle and Rescue Strap
By now it is not uncommon for a normal patrol officer to be equipped with a rifle and an individual first aid kit along with other essential tactical gear. The dangers of law enforcement are real. With the unfortunate truth of officers being shot in the line of duty, the need for a tactical emergency evacuation option that wouldn't take the rescuer out of the fight was needed.
Deploying the 11-99 Rescue Cobra Buckle
Traditionally, if a police officer went down you would move the injured officer with either a single person drag or a two-officer carry. These tried and true techniques work well but take officers out of the fight. Lion Defense designed the 11-99 Rescue Cobra Buckle and 11-99 Rescue Strap to allow the officer to pull the injured person to safety with just one hand. Leaving a dominant hand open to hold a weapon or navigate through terrain.
Having several officers on the scene of a critical incident is a luxury and often not realistic. In a patrol setting, most police officers respond to calls either by themselves or with a partner. The need to be tactically sound and well rounded is more important than ever, Lion Defense understands this.
The average officer weighs about 230 lbs with gear. In the academy, you are required to perform a dummy drag with much less weight than an actual person with tactical gear. When stress and adrenaline are flowing the possibility of a back injury is present. The 11-99 Rescue Strap allows you to keep an upright posture and aware of your surroundings while moving the injured person to safety.
What are the Rescue Cobra Buckle and Rescue Strap made of?
The 11-99 Rescue Cobra Buckle is comprised of a patented AustriAlpin 1" Cobra Buckle D Ring and heavyweight polypropylene nylon capable handling over 500lbs. The polypropylene is resistant to water and mildew making it perfect for any climate and has a melting temperature of 380 degrees.
The 11-99 Rescue Strap is constructed of 1" heavyweight polypropylene, a heavy bolt snap which attaches to the Rescue Cobra Buckle or to the safety D ring near the handle of the strap. This is perfect for conducting a rescue on an injured person without the 11-99 Rescue Cobra Buckle. Simply slide the strap under them and around their chest.
